Cinnamon Rolls

One of my favorite things to shoot in my spare time is food! My current personal project is a cookbook that I am creating with my mom and all of her yummy & delicious recipes. There's really no bad outcome from it, I get to learn how to cook and leave home with a full belly, and she gets to spend time with her favorite child (sorry, brothers!).

Homemade "Cinnabon" Cinnamon Rolls have been a recipe that my parents have made for me and my brothers for as long as I can remember. It was so fun to make (and eat!) the rolls with my mom and take photos of the process. 

 

The recipe used for these tasty, gooey, cinnamon-y rolls is below. Try not to get too hungry!

 The worst part about making cinnamon rolls is waiting for the dough to rise (I'm so impatient when it comes to food), but it's also the most important part if you want fluffy, soft and delicious dough for the rolls. 

The messy part! After slathering an unhealthy amount of butter on the rolled-out dough, spreading a thick layer of brown sugar and cinnamon from corner to corner is what will give your rolls that irresistible caramel-y filling. Yum.

Behold. The rolled log in all of it's dough-y, cinnamon-y glory.

T-minus just about 20 minutes until you can sink your teeth into these bad boys. 

Et Voila! The moment you've all been waiting for. Bon Appetit!

Just try not to eat too many now...

 

 

"Cinnabon" Cinnamon Rolls

 

2 cups milk

3 tbsp melted butter (one stick)

1/2 cup water

1 (3.5 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix

8 cups bread flour

2 tbsp white sugar

1 tsp salt

4 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast

 

Filling:

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

chocolate chips

 

Frosting:

1 tsp milk

1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar

4 tbsp butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Directions (For KitchenAid):

1) Dissolve yeast in warm water and sugar. Let the yeast bloom (foam up).

2) Using the paddle attachment, change to the dough hood. Add the remaining flour one cup at a time.

3) The dough should be a little sticky but form a ball on the hook. Knead in the mixer for a couple minutes.

4) Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and put in a warm place to rise. It should double in size.

5) Turn out the dough and punch down and knead a couple of times. Let the dough rest so that it relaxes.

6) Divide it into half and roll it out into a large rectangle.

7) Spread on the butter, add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and chocolate chips.

8) Starting with the widest end, roll up and pinch the ends to seal.

9) Cut into ½ to 1 inch slices.

10) Put on a greased cookie sheet and let it rise as the oven is preheating to 325F.

11) Bake until they start to brown. Be sure to watch them. It can take from 13 to 19 minutes.
